We are proud to announce that we have achieved the DSW Insport Club silver award. Ospreys Wheelchair Rugby is one of the only 17 sports clubs with Silver Award!
But what is the Insport Club award?
Insport is a Disability Sport Wales project that aims to support the physical activity, sport, and leisure sectors delivering inclusively of disabled people.
The training gives the coaches and staff at Ospreys Wheelchair Rugby more confidence in dealing with all types of disabilities and impairments, making sure that we are not discriminating against anyone with different needs.
Why is it important?
Being a disability sport we can sometimes assume that we will get everything right but sometimes different cases come up that we are not prepared for or trained to deal with. It can leave us not knowing what to do. With this training we are more confident not just on physical impairments but sensory and cognitive impairments, allowing us to be more prepared to have a wider range of people able to participate in training sessions and competitions.
Should you get involved?
Even if you’re confident in your disability and impairment knowledge we would still recommend you take part in the DSW Insport series to reinforce your knowledge and potentially learn something new.
